Kyle McFadzean has revealed the old school way in which he andCoventryCity boss Mark Robins sorted out his new deal to keep him at the club next season.
Contract negotiations can be long and drawn out affairs involving agents and chief executives thrashing out terms over several weeks, sometimes months.
But theSky Blueselder statesman said it took just 30 minutes to agree his latest extension that will take the 36-year-old centre-back into his fifth season with the club.
Last summers extension was an option in the clubs favour, effectively rolling his contract over rather than negotiating improved terms. But with him being in the last few months of his deal, McFadzean was able to thrash out fresh terms, and he couldnt be happier.

Yes, the club have been spot on with me, he said. The gaffer was sound, we sorted it out between ourselves and it literally took half an hour.
I think that was just as I was coming back from injury. Me and the Gaffer have always had a good relationship and we had certain things hed said to me and I made those happen. Then he came to me and said its time he gave me a new deal, and that was it.
Asked what Robins had said to him, whether a new deal would be subject to completing so many starts this season, the defender said: No, he just said well get up to the World Cup break and see how youve been. But we got to the break and obviously I got injured and I was thinking, oh no, but he stuck to his word and gave me what I wanted, which was fine.
So was he worried his calf strain injury would jeopardise his contract?
You always are, he said, I am not young am I, so you always wonder if they are going to play on the age thing. But for what I have done for the club, he was spot on and hes a manager who sticks to his word.
City have kept an incredible 17 clean sheets in the league so far this term, 13 of which have been with McFadzean in the side, and four of those since hes come back from his muscle tear.
Im buzzing to be back because it wasnt very nice having to sit out injured and watch for a while, he said. Obviously were looking up the league which is a good thing as well.
So does he feel hes playing the best football of his career?
Do you know what, I am just enjoying myself and thats probably the reason, he said. I have been here a few years now, four seasons, and they have helped me improve as a player, the coaches and management, and I just really enjoy it. It helps being in a good team as well with good players around me.
Its nice to be playing well but youre only as good as your last game, so you can always have a bad one. Hopefully that doesnt happen.
